The Synesso has landed

The long awaited arrival of the Synesso espresso machines has everyone at Five Senses licking their lips with excitement.

The June long weekend saw Five Senses staff members don their aprons to keep all budding gourmet food enthusiasts and fellow patrons buzzing with quality fresh coffee at the 2006 Food and Wine Festival.

At the same time, the Synesso — the Rolls Royce and Ferrari of espresso machines — came out of its box to feast its eyes on the West Australian public. We all swore we heard a background choir strike a perfect chord as it was lifted to freedom and fired up for the first time in Western Australia.

“There has been a lot of talk about this machine and how good it is and when I used it at the Food and Wine Festival, I was impressed to see it live up to these expectations,” said Ben Bicknell, Chief Trainer at the WA Barista Academy.

Synesso began in July 2004 and is the next generation of commercial espresso machines. The stainless steel body and frame is elegantly simple yet extremely functional. This machine sets a new standard for thermal stability, ease of use and consistent shot brewing. With exposed brew groups, lever steam valves, cool touch steam wands and DigiZone PID controlled electronics the machines are the most exciting and versatile machine on the market today. One of the most important design innovations is the allocation of a separate brew boiler for each group head. Each of these boilers have separate thermal controls meaning that the operator is able vary brew temps across each group head.

“To prepare consistent espresso, stable brewing water temperature is the one factor that has been lacking until this moment in time. For me, the creation of this machine marks the beginning of caffe espresso as a culinary art,” says owner of Espresso Vivace, David Schomer.
