Octavia Coffee and Whole Foods opens in Mornington
Nestled on Octavia Street, Mornington’s freshest new coffee outlet has opened!
A new concept in the café world, owner Judy has combined her many years working within the coffee industry with her love of whole foods to create a relaxing environment in which you can enjoy a premium coffee while you browse their vast range of top quality, whole foods.
Judy and barista Stuart are kept busy behind the espresso bar, pulling shots for Mornington’s coffee lovers and health-conscious ‘foodies’. Octavia’s house blend changes regularly to take advantage of the broad range of freshly roasted 5 Senses Single Origin beans available.
Judy has always had a passion for whole foods and as consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of eating healthy, unprocessed foods, she felt that the time was ripe for her to put her love of whole foods to practical use. Octavia stocks a large and tempting array of treats, including organic options. “The clear winners so far,” says Judy, “have been the medjool dates, dry roasted almonds, Australian pepitas and dried apricots.” The range extends to lentils, peas, organic muesli, olives, some unbelievably good organic honey and goat’s cheese and, of course, you can take a bag of Senses beans home with you.
A flourishing vegetable and herb garden is located near the entrance. In keeping with her love of community, Judy buys most of her seedlings from Youth Enterprises, a community garden doing great things nearby. The garden has been a real point of interest. “The number of people who have contributed to the garden with cuttings, advice and labour has been spectacular,” Judy enthuses. “It’s very encouraging for me.”
