Australia's favourite cafés
The nation’s growing obsession with coffee comes as no surprise to any of us here at 5 Senses. The good folk at delicious. magazine were, however, a little taken aback by the overwhelming response to their request for nominations for their annual Café Awards. Amongst the thousands of nominations, two of the top spots were taken out by cafés using a 5 Senses blend.
We were happy to discover that the nation’s coffee lovers are developing discerning palates, crowning one of our best loved cafés, APTE, Overall Favourite Café. Husband and wife team, Nathan Toleman and Sarah Foletta, named the café APTE, an acronym for ‘A Place to Eat’, but don’t let the focus on food mislead you — they’re most assuredly passionate about coffee.

Their house blend combines a number of Single Origin beans, including Colombian, Costa Rican and PNG and Nathan is well versed in all of the nuances of pulling a perfect shot. Sarah and Nathan have built up a massive following in just three years and there is undoubtedly a huge future for APTE.
Voyage Kitchen & Delicatessen was named runner-up for Western Australia, a well deserved win for one of WA’s busiest and best loved cafés. With panoramic views of WA’s beautiful coastline, Voyage’s custom 5 Senses blend uses Fairtrade organic beans from some of the world’s best coffee growing regions. The menu is so delectable that it takes at least one coffee (and usually two) to come to a decision on what to eat. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of a Voyage experience, we recommend that you book ahead to avoid the disappointment of missing out on a table.
Everyone here at 5 Senses sends up a loud and hearty hooray to APTE and Voyage.
