One hour west of Melbourne is the bustling seaside city of Geelong, the gateway to the Great Ocean Road, Queenscliff, fantastic wineries and Torquay. As you would expect, people who live in Geelong have a lot to be happy about. Notably on that list is the Bridge Room Café.

Bridge Room Cafe is owned and operated by George Katos and his son, Jon. This father-son barista team share a love for specialty coffee and are determined to deliver to Geelong the best coffees in town. Jon’s passion for coffee developed about six years ago when he and George took over a small fish and chips shop equipped with a two-group Boema that was hardly ever used. After a trip to Melbourne set the stage for Jon’s discovery of how good espresso can be, it wasn’t long before his little two-group was working ten times harder than ever.

Because cafes outside of Melbourne’s central business district usually get less exposure than a city café, they tend to have to fight harder for a good reputation. Bridge Room Cafe has successfully made their single origin coffees a central feature of their business — and it is exciting to see the amount of single origin coffee brewing in Geelong! The house blend is a big-bodied coffee with an amazingly smooth mouthfeel and a buttery finish. It’s deep, dark, rich, and perfect any time of day.

Takeaway is easy but there are also over 120 seats to relax and enjoy the fresh dishes ranging from a wide selection of breakfast items to an ever changing specials board featuring fresh, local produce.

To enjoy great food and specialty coffee while looking over the bay is something rare in a shopping centre. Whether you decide to relax and watch the hustle and bustle pass you by, or if you need a Five Senses fix on the way to the Great Ocean Road, you will be welcomed by warm smiles, genuine friendliness and swift service.
