Rosslyn Opens in Melbourne

The fit out of our new training centre has been anything but kept quiet. With whispers, rumours and some sneaky leaked photos floating around, it’s time to introduce the world to Rosslyn officially…
Located at 300 Rosslyn Street, West Melbourne, directly behind Festival Hall, Rosslyn is a purpose built training centre ideal for those who want to learn the ins and outs of the modern day barista craft. We were fortunate to find a site that suited the intended application so well. The exposed brick walls, 100-year-old Tasmanian Oak floors, and a magnificent central atrium create a fantastic environment to hang out with other career baristas or get the training required to launch a new career.
Training courses at Rosslyn will embrace world best practice techniques in an impressive setting. All training courses will be conducted on the first floor at Rosslyn Street. In the espresso area, the combination of beautiful hardwood bench tops with the Synesso espresso machine looks pretty damn sexy if you ask me. With a full complement of four Synesso espresso machines, including three sabres and a hydra, students will get plenty of hands on exposure to the world’s best equipment along with guidance by expert trainers. Each station is ergonomically designed with easy access to knock boxes built into the bench, bar fridges and built in under-bench jug rinsers. Each station will also have a Mazzer Robur E and a manual Mazzer Kony to allow students experience on both styles of grinders.
A separate brew area has also been constructed to allow for comprehensive training in all facets of slow brew coffee making. The two separate stations are each equipped with syphon bar, pour over station, Malkonig Guatemala Lab grinders and a Marco Uber boiler. The brew section sits immediately adjacent to the barista lounge area so after concentrating on making your perfect coffee at the bar, you can sit back and relax on the massively comfortable lounges whilst checking out the library of books and magazines on hand.
For the barista with designs on being the next world champion, there is a dedicated competition area. With tables made to exact WBC specifications and a Nuova Simonelli on top, this space will be ideal for perfecting routines in an environment identical to the big day.
Last but not least, the cupping room completes the picture with all the facilities required to stage a traditional cupping.
