Popayan Cincuenta

Tropical fruit aroma, pineapple sweetness with a rich texture and aftertaste.

Hailing from the plateau of Popayan deep within the Colombian department of Cauca, this coffee comes to us via 50 closely located farms. Because of this, we have decided to coin this coffee the Popayan Cincuenta, which means 50 in Spanish. It is, without question, both big and juicy – think ripe tropical fruits and silky texture. One sip and you will understand our collective delight with this coffee.

Coffee comes to us in a variety of ways, however all great coffee has great organisation behind it. Such is the case with our Popayan Cincuenta. At the ground level the coffee comes from a select group of 50 closely located farms, hailing from the namesake region of Popayan. Because of this, we have decided to coin this coffee the Popayan Cincuenta, which means 50 in Spanish. Each shipment, however, will only consist of those lots which meet the specification we have agreed to at the Racafe Popayan Mill.

Our hope here is to deliver a coffee that highlights the region of Popayan, yet is consistent throughout the harvest.

Diving into the cup, the first thing you will notice is that the Popayan Cincuenta is ‘big’. Flavor-wise you will be hit with epic notes of tropical fruits and more specifically grilled pineapple. Next up you will be confronted with the sheer juiciness and the silky beautiful texture of the coffee. Via the espresso machine, again the coffee is anything but small. It consistently is extracting at a high percentage and is utterly present in any blend we create.
