Almost every year for the past five years we have made it to the Hartmann Family Estate and every year we are impressed. Running a business with siblings and creating not only a consistent product, but such an amazing product, year on year, is such a huge feat. This year we decided to pick up a naturally processed lot of Caturra and Catuai to demonstrate their savvy processing skill set. This Coralia lot can be described as nothing but big! The Hartmann farm is located in Santa Clara, Chiriqui Panama. This family run estate is fully equipped with a state of the art cupping lab and sample roasting facility. By knowing and cupping their crop each year, the Hartmann family are able to continually improve and experiment with their coffees. This has resulted in some really unique and exceptional offerings.
This small family farm is currently run by five siblings who each play a unique role in the growth, production and tourism of the farm.
Ratibor plays a pivotal role in delivering the coffees to the specialty market as a certified Q grader who manages the lab, sample roasting, cupping and quality control. The farm is lush and green with an emphasis on sustainable farming practices that will preserve their beautiful and historical piece of family history for many years to come. The wildlife is abundant and Finca Hartmann is also a destination for eco-tourism and bird enthusiasts.
