Nkonge Hill, Washed
Juicy peach & almond butter, smooth mouthfeel with a sweet finish.
To say Heza washing station is ‘remote’ would be an understatement, and yet the community that lives in the surrounding hills is a special one; comprised mostly of coffee farmers. Heza means ‘beautiful place’ in Kirundi, the local language of Burundi. Nkonge Hill is a small sub region that supplies to this small innovative washing/processing station. The Long Miles Team continue to produce some truly amazing coffees which is improving the lives of coffee growers in these remote areas of Burundi. Expect juicy peach and almond butter with a smooth mouthfeel and a round-sweet finish.
Nkonge Hill is led by a woman chief named Pia. Pia’s hopes are for more development and improved food security on her hill.
“It’s hard to hope,” says Pia, “when so much has been lost.”
The war brought great losses to Nkonge, but Pia believes it is now time for peace, and time to grow more coffee. We couldn’t agree with her more.
