Our Western Australian crew.
Our original HQ with the roastery in Rockingham and Academy in Northbridge, is a hive of activity filled with these champions.
Jeremy Hulsdunk Sales & Customer Support Manager Besides being a walking encyclopedia on coffee, Jeremy is also a certifed Q Grader, two time WA Barista Champ, WA Latte Champ and WA Cupping Champ! With so many accolades nestled in his pool room, you'd think they were his best feature, but no! It's his witty charm and love for pink and grey galahs.
Nicole Novak Account Manager Nicole has hospo in her blood. With her million dollar smile, and attention to detail, she's an outstanding barista/manager/operator with some twelve years of cafe experience, and seven as a successful cafe owner. Nicole’s attention to detail along with her wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry has served her well as she’s also become a judge for ASCA’s most recent barista competitions.
Chris Jackson Account Manager Chris joined Five Senses in pursuit of fame, fortune, and fast cars. His passion for specialty coffee is highly infectious and some 364 days after his arrival he became a certified Q Grader – that’s just how driven he is! A few months on and the PNG government invited him to judge their Cup of Excellence Competition. Conversation never goes quiet around CJ, but if it does just mention his Greyhound rescue, Milli!
Mitchell Fink Head Trainer Like with many of our team, a university degree was derailed by Mitch's passion for coffee. Although in his case, it’s become more of a segue, as he was studying education. Mitch now combines his passions for quality teaching, and great coffee as our Head Trainer at the WA Barista Academy. Mitch was also the recent runner-up champion at the Western Region Barista Championships and is hungry to compete again. Good luck Mitchalicious!
Jay Holland Head Roaster Five Senses began like many companies with the owner doing every role. In this story, one of Dean's first appointments was Jay as the first Five Senses roaster. With well over 10 years of experience, Jay can bamboozle you with his knowledge of molecular bean transformation during the roasting process, all while bench-pressing 100+kgs.
Rich Austin Quality Control Manager Starting as one of our original roasters Rich remembers the good times roasting coffee in a tin shed. Fast forward 10 years, Rich now puts his Q Grader certification to the test every day as our QC Manager. Arguably the best of our staff at latte art and our resident photographer, Rich can also be found drifting through the calm waters of Point Peron on his stand-up paddleboard with family. #beachlife
